NHL 2020 Bettin on DraftKings

The DraftKings Sportsbook is getting busier as the summer heats up. The NHL has announced it will have a 24-team tournament-style competition to determine the Stanley Cup Champion for the season. The NBA has announced its plan to finish the 2019/2020 season as well, with no set plan in place, though the goal is to have playoffs and run it from one site (leading site right now is Disney in Orlando).

Bundesliga has returned as well, as the German Soccer season has already resumed. The English Premier League is set to return June 17th, as the world’s premier soccer league plans to finish their season. NASCAR is back in full swing with the QuikTrip 500 in Atlanta set for Sunday, June 7th. Finally, the UFC continues with UFC Fight Night this Saturday, followed by UFC 250 on June 6th.

The NHL announced a 24-team postseason tournament with a very unique setup. Though the season was suspended months ago, the league determined enough hockey had been played to create a reasonable solution to crowning a Stanley Cup Champion.

In the new format, the top four teams from each conference will play each other in a round-robin to determine the one to four seeds for each conference. The remaining 16 teams will have pool play, which means they will be broken up into groups of eight and play each team in their respective group of eight, with the top four from each advancing to the typical eight-team conference playoff setup.

Western Conference Odds:

Avalanche +325

Golden Knights +350

Blues +450

Stars +850

Oilers +1200

Predators +1400

Canucks +2200

Coyotes +2500

Eastern Conference Odds:

Bruins +350

Lightning +375

Flyers +500

Penguins +750

Capitals +750

Maple Leafs +1200

Hurricanes +2800

Islanders +3000

Unlike NBA, NHL betting can be very, very unpredictable, so it may be worth taking one of the lower-seeded teams with the hopes they can get hot for a playoff stretch.

UFC has two big events coming up. The first of which is the UFC Fight Night, which was held on Saturday. The next one is UFC 25 on June 6th.

UFC Fight Night 173 has some interesting matchups or their upcoming fights. The card’s main event is Tyron Woodley -180 against Gilbert Burns +155 and though I don’t see much value there, you can take a few of the undercard bets, of which, there are ten. I like parlays in MMA and my parlay this week for UFC’s Fight Night 173 are Casey Kenney at -277, MacKenzie Dern at -390 and Spike Carlyle at +120. Carlyle’s line has dropped from +150 on some sites. It may be close to even by the time the fight starts. As for Kenney, he’s technically sound and a strong grappler. He’s a rising star in the UFC and should be solid in this matchup. Dern’s opponent is fighting above her weight and lacks power. I expect her to win this one rather easily.

The NBA has yet to set a time and plan for their season, but recently announced pushing to complete the 2019/2020 season at Disney in Orlando. Futures odds are still available at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The QuikTrip 500 in Atlanta is scheduled for June 7th with odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook.
