Overview Of Parx Casino

2999 Street Road
Bensalem, PA 19024

What does Parx Casino have to offer?

Located just 20 minutes north-east of downtown Philadelphia, Parx Casino is a gambler’s paradise. Parx is an enormous and glitzy establishment offering horse-racing, table games, video poker, slots, live poker, and many eating and entertainment venues. All they are missing is a hotel on property, although they do have affiliations and special rates with several nearby hotels.

Parx began it’s gambling operation in 1974 as a “racino” called Keystone Racetrack, replacing Liberty Bell Park as the areas premier thoroughbred track. It changed owners and names in 1984 and was called Philadelphia Park. After several more ownership changes, the property received its casino license in 2006 and rebranded itself as Parx Casino in 2009. In 2010, table games were added to Pennsylvania’s casino licenses and Parx added a second building called Parx East to accommodate the new market.

This is where Parx is today. They have the largest casino gaming complex in Pennsylvania with over 3,300 slot machines, over 180 table games, an enormous 48 table poker room, and they are one of Pennsylvania’s six licensed racinos. The live horse racing season runs February through December, with races Saturday through Tuesday. Even when the racetrack is dark, wagering on races from other tracks nationwide is available 24/7.

Additionally, Parx Casino won Philadelphia Magazine’s Best of Philly Award for 2016.

Parx Casino’s gaming floor is over 260,000 square feet. This enormous space allows the casino to offer both smoking and non-smoking areas with slots, video poker, and table games. This is a thoughtful touch, although some patrons complain that smoke still travels from one section to the other so don’t expect perfection in the separation.

Table games

With over 180 tables available, Parx offers many different tables games with varying limits for both low and high-stakes players. However, since the weekends get so busy, the tables fill up and the available limits increase, so be prepared. Table games offered at Parx are:

  • Blackjack
  • Roulette
  • Craps
  • Baccarat (midi and mini)
  • Spanish 21
  • Three Card Poker
  • Four Card Poker
  • Pai Gow Poker
  • Pai Gow Tiles
  • Big Six Wheel
  • Sic Bo
  • Let It Ride
  • Casino War

Stadium Seating, Fusion hybrids, and Shaq!

Parx has embraced the current trend of offering players new and exciting ways to play traditional table games. For blackjack and roulette, they offer stadium seating hybrid games where players sit at a flat-screen gaming terminal and make bets on a live table game. Once the bets are made, the hand is dealt and the betting results immediately appear on each player’s terminal. Cashing in and out of these terminals is exactly the same as a traditional slot machine or video poker machine.

In Parx Casino’s Fusion section, players can bet on up to four live blackjack or roulette games at a time. An interesting feature is that each player’s hit or stand decisions in blackjack only affect themselves. No more need to yell at the player on 3rd base for “taking” the dealer’s bust card!

Get ready for Shaq Blackjack (or Shaq Jack!), an enormous stadium seating version of hybrid blackjack. Again, there is a live dealer and players sit at their own terminal. Exciting side-bets based on the famous basketball player are available for this popular variant.

With over 3300 machines to choose from, slot players at Parx won’t be starved for options. Parx offers limits as low as penny machines up to $100 machines on the floor. Parx also offers a high-limit slot section called Xclusive, featuring premium beverage service, a private cashier, and a casino host available 24/7.

Some of the most popular slot machine offerings at Parx (though by no means all of them) are:

  • Willy Wonka
  • The Walking Dead
  • Michael Jackson
  • Superman
  • Batman
  • Black Widow
  • Cherry Mischief
  • Clue
  • Seinfeld
  • The Goonies
  • Anchorman
  • The Simpsons

and many, many more.

Video Poker

Parx Casino has several of the popular Game King multi-video poker machines throughout the casino floor. These machines offer most of the popular video poker games.

Also, in their high-limit section, Parx offers:

Parx Xclub

Parx Casino has a card-based rewards program called Xclub. The program is free and players can sign up online or in person at the Xclub counter. New members receive $10 in free slot play loaded onto their card.

All Xclub members earn points (called credits) for their play. These credits can be used as comp dollars at food and beverage outlets on the property. Players earn one credit for every $20 wagered on slot machines or $60 wagered on video poker machines. Credits are also earned on table game play, but rates vary from game to game. Comp dollars must be used quickly – they expire 90 days from the time they are earned.

In addition, slot players in particular earn an extra perk called Xtra play. To earn Xtra play, slot players must earn at least ten points in a single gaming day. The more you play, the more you earn. Any earned Xtra play is available on your card at 9am the following day and must be used before it expires in 45 days.

The Parx Xclub is a tier-based rewards program. The number of credits earned during the current 6-month period determines the players card status (free play and Xtra play don’t count towards credits earned). There are three levels:

  • Player’s: 999 credits or less
  • Premium: 1,000-7,499 credits
  • Elite: 7,500 credits or more

 Xclub tier benefits:

All Xclub card members receive the following benefits:

  • Free play, food and beverage, match play, sweepstakes, and other offers
  • Access to current promotions
  • Discounts on purchases and services offered by Parx Casino’s community partners (hotels, etc)

  • Complimentary beverage service on the casino floor

In addition, Premium card members receive these benefits:

  • Complimentary top shelf beverage service on the casino floor
  • Free valet service
  • Exclusive invitations
  • No cover charge at 360 (a live-music nightclub)

Elite card members receive all the benefits of the other two tiers plus:

  • Private gated parking
  • Priority restaurant reservations

The racetrack

Last but hardly least, the racino part of Parx Casino was awarded Best Race/Sports Book in Pennsylvania by Casino Player Magazine for 2016 and 2017. During the local racing season players can watch their chosen horses race. In addition, tracks from all across the nation can also be bet 24/7.

Online gaming

Currently, Parx Casino only operates a social gaming platform run by tech gaming partner GAN. Players can sign up and play their favorite slots, video poker, keno, and table games for play money. New players get 5,000 virtual credits for signing up and can purchase more if they run out. It’s all for fun, though. No matter how many virtual credits you win, you can never cash out real money.

Parx Casino has yet to officially enter Pennsylvania’s nascent online gaming market, but it is clear that they will do so as soon as they are able. They have already applied for the state’s $10 million license allowing casinos to offer online table games, slots, and peer-to-peer gaming (geek-speak for online poker). Once they are ready to go live, it is expected that it will be GAN operating their online slots and table game offerings. It is unknown at this time how Parx will choose to handle the use of their online poker gaming privileges.

For those Pennsylvanian’s who are eager to try online gaming without having to wait, why not give the Pennsylvania online lottery a try? It’s quick, easy, and fun to play. It’s completely legal and you can win real money. Even better, new players receive $5 free to play when they sign up.
